Arches National Park
This will have to be a quick post, I didn't even take time to Photoshop my pictures. That would be due to the little hiccup we had yesterday with the truck that it seems Rick has already mentioned. But I need to catch this adventure up if I want to try to remember the details. I am getting old and it doesn't take long to forget things!
We left Moab, Utah (and Vince and Holly) around 7am Sunday morning so we could get to Arches National Park before it got too hot. We were only a few miles from it so we were in good shape. Based on Vince's recommendation we decided to take the hike to Delicate Arch, one of Utah's most recognizable landmarks.
Vince and the park claim that it is only a 1.5 mile hike to the arch but I have to believe it is further. I think what made it so difficult was the large amount of uphill climbing on the way there, the fact that the arch is NEVER in view until you turn the last corner and you are there and that there are no signs telling you how close you are. I was convinced that every time I crested a huge rock hill that I would see it. But it seemed I only kept seeing another larger rock hill we had to climb.
The kids at a smaller arch along the way.
Almost there, it's just around that corner.
Made it!
The altitude of Moab and the park took its toll on my mom and she decided to sit this one out and wait for us not too far into the hike. I think she made a good decision.
The kids did great and they spent a lot of time showing off their Spider-man crawling abilities.
