Happy Anniversary

6 years ago today Rick and I were married. We choose that day because it was my Grandma and Grandpa's anniversary as well. It was a beautiful fall day in Southern Indiana and everything went well other than a little near fainting spell I had during pictures before hand. I was revived and the rest of the day was great. We honeymooned in Jamaica during hurricane Lilly and really thought our plane was going to crash. Oh well, Rick got a taste of scuba diving while we were there and now he is hooked, he goes every chance he gets.

It is hard to believe it has only been 6 years, it seems like much longer. But he has been a part of my life since 1996 when I started college so really, he has been around for 12 years. And when you think about it, that is almost half my life since I am 30. 3 houses, 2 states and 2 kids later, we are still going and I could not imagine my life without him in it. Blah, blah I know, but I just thought I would say it for the record so in case his girlfriend is reading this, she will know I am not going anywhere. Just kidding.

Here is a picture of us at mom and dad's the day after we got engaged.

Dentist and Baby George

Millie had her first Dentist appointment this morning. And, to no surprise to me, our little hypochondriac did great. She wanted to bring the spit vacuum thing home with us. She had 19 teeth because one of her molars still have not come in yet.

And, our playgroup met at the zoo today. They had some special events because they were celebrating the birth of the new monkey (correction...chimp), Baby George. Momma monkey (correction...Chimp) was trying to kind of hide him but we still got a picture.

Speaking of monkeys, here are 3 of them checking out the zebras. How cute.

Millie and Miles were walking around holding hands. I think now that Miles' old girlfriend, Ava, is out of the picture, Millie made her move on him. We miss you Ava!

Millie and Lindsey posing by the scarecrow.

This was the butterfly exhibit, I thought Millie may be scared since she is terrified of bugs but she did fine. Although she wanted one to land on her hand, I think she would have freaked if it actually happened.

Arm Control

I sound strange in this video because Millie was taking a nap and I was trying to be quiet. Reed could see the rattle next to him but was reaching straight up. He slowly started reaching more and more to the side and when he finally got it, he kept reaching to the side to get it. Such a smart guy.

Reed's 2 Month Check Up

"You talking to me?"

What can I say, we have a little grower on our hands. I thought he might have moved more toward the 50% range on weight since he is eating less than he was a month ago because he is sleeping through the night. That turned out to not be the case, he actually moved up the scale from 90% in weight to 95% from his one month check up. So now he is 14 pounds (95%), 23 1/2 inches (75%), and his head is 16 1/4 inches (75%). I think we are growing what will turn out to be a strong little football player.

My last day...

This may be my last post because tonight my fingers may shrivel up with arthritis, my sight will go (oh wait, that has already happened), and my teeth will probably all fall out. Yep, tomorrow I turn 30, yikes. I know, most of you reading this already have but you are old so you understand...Just kidding. Please send gifts, money is always appreciated!

On to serious stuff. Reed decided to be a terror yesterday and today was no different. He is still cute and I love him but for the love of everything, he needs to just get over and stop crying for goodness sakes. Of course, when Rick got home at 7:30, he turns into all smiles, what a brat. My mom is coming tomorrow, maybe she will take the kids with her for a while, maybe until Reed is potty trained.

Reed went for his first bike ride the other day, he was strapped in the bike cart with bungee straps (please don't take my children, he had fun).

And, although I don't live there anymore, Indiana had a hurricane this past weekend. Go figure. Mom and dad lost a lot of trees on the farm but just one in the yard and no damage to any buildings. I wish I had pictures, I really want to see what it looks like. Here are some photos my friend Kelly took at her house who lives just a few miles from them. Note the Bette Buechler for Treasurer sign in her yard that weathered the storm! VOTE FOR BETTE!

Reed did not have his V8 today.

Silly Kids

Millie was being goofy today playing in my shoes and her hats. The hat she is wearing has lights in the bill if you could not tell. Reed is getting pretty strong, rolling over all the time and holding his head up for minutes at a time. Millie's new thing today was telling me what letter each of her trains start with, and she was not looking at the bottom which has the name printed. She would say James and then make the J sound several times and then say "He starts with the letter J". She did that with Gorden, Percy, Henry, Thomas and Toby. She had trouble with Molly and Lady but she will get it soon. All day long she will ask, what letter does that start with? She also gets a kick out of telling time and watching the clock switch. Just digital for now but she is getting the hang of it.

2 Month Birthday and No Nap

Well, our little guy is not so little anymore, today is his 2 month birthday. I took his picture today next to the giraffe, as you can see here, he is growing up fast. He is getting close to the 8 hour mark at night so that is nice. Unfortunately for me though, if he wakes up later than 4, I have to start getting up. Rick has been getting up with him the first round and then I get the next one. But, Rick gets up at 4 to workout and then go to work so probably in another week, Rick will luck out and not have to get up with him anymore. Bummer...

Millie has been really fighting her naps the past week or so. She has always been a great napper, she will lay right down and sleep for nearly 3 hours. Well, naps have turned into flipping and flopping on the couch for 2 hours before she finally falls asleep but she would eventually always fall asleep. Well, not today. We are on hour 5 right now and she is still not sleeping. Don't worry, I am not torturing her, I told her she could get up about 2 hours ago but I said if she did not take a nap,she could not ride her bike with dad tonight. So, she is still laying on the couch saying "Mom, I am taking a nap, can I ride my bike?" Um, no.

Here is a picture of our little speed racer I took last night.

Reed Update

This weekend Reed finally started being happy for a short time while he is awake, before that, if he was awake and you weren't walking with him he was crying. Now, after he eats, for about 1/2 hour he will lay on your lap looking at you and try to make sounds. It is really cute because he gets this really serious look on his face like he is really thinking about it. Then he smiles when he successfully makes a sound. His night sleeping is getting better, he goes from about 8pm when he goes to bed 'till about 2:30 and then right back to sleep until about 7am. Oh, and his favorite song is the alphabet song, he loves it. We have tried the Bumbo chair a few times and although he can sit in it just fine, he is not a big fan yet. He has his 2 month check up next week on the 18th.

Mr. Alligator

I have been a little video crazy lately. Millie came home from school today with a new song. All she told me was that it was about an Alligator but would not sing it for me. When Rick got home, she was more than happy to sing it for him. I think it goes like this...

5 Little Monkeys swinging in the tree
Sneaky Mr. Alligator can't catch me
Along comes Mr. Alligator, quiet as can be
and snatched that Monkey right out of that tree.

Bike Riding Update

Millie has gotten pretty comfortable on her bike now. She zips all around without us even having to be close to her. We do still have to help her start but she is able to stop by herself pretty well. Here is a little new footage of her. This was taken early in the morning but by the time we went out in the evening, we did not have to run along beside her. I tried to upload that video but it was taken with a different camera and would not load.
