First Communion

Reed had his First Communion today and the day couldn't have been more beautiful.  We are so very proud of him!  He read very well in front of everyone and was a wonderful leader for the rest of the participants.  He told me he really liked the wine when he came back!  We had a nice lunch afterward and Father Day even stopped by on his Mule!  Unfortunately it wouldn't start when it was time for him to leave so it's still parked in our driveway and my mom drove him home.

Reed had his first game of the season last night. So glad the weather was nice and we weren't freezing like at practices!

Highland Hills Tennis

It's been a long time coming but Millie is finally on a tennis team. The team is 5-8 grade, no divisions between grades. She was the only 5th grader to make the team that competes in matches. Very proud of her! They have had 2 matches so far and she had played doubles both times. She has won all of her sets 6-0 easily. Very excited to see her compete finally!

Chickens Chickens

The kids have been talking about and planning for chickens since last year. Reed was much more excited about it than Millie at first and he was researching and reading books about taking care of them. When the time got closer to getting them, Millie was excited too! We had several failed attempts of actually getting them, twice the store told us they had them but then they didn't when we got there. Then we went to Florida and wanted to wait until we returned. Then Rick wrecked his motorcycle (no fault of his) and ended up with punctured lungs and 12 broken ribs. So finally, even though the ribs are still very much broken, we got the chickens. It only took them a few minutes before they were scratching around in the fresh chips and eating and drinking. We ended up with 6. 3 look very healthy, 2 are kind of lazy and one hasn't moved from under the heat lamp and won't stop chirping. We are a little concerned about that one but the kids knew going in that chickens come and go and that they need to understand that.
