Things About Reed

He is fascinated with bellies and will walk up to us, lift our shirts and pat our belly.

He also really likes to lift his own shirt and show us his belly.

He insists on being on the couch only to turn around and slide off to show he can do it. This is followed 2 seconds later by him pointing to the couch and signing up. This can last FOREVER and it never ends.

He likes to take a toy, raise it up, let out a little quite squeal sound (like a bomb falling) and then hit the toy on the floor/couch/our belly and make a puccchow sound (you know, like something blowing up). I have no idea how this started or how to write out the sound of something blowing up.

He is still pooping on the potty everyday, sometimes twice a day. I don't have to watch for the poop face anymore, he just holds it until he is on the potty and then comes out with it.

He calls everything dad, including dad.

Blueberries are his favorite food, it is amazing how fast he can eat them. I am sure he could win some sort of competition.

He is enjoying school more everyday and will actually walk in his room and go to his teacher on his own.

You can not say the word cookie while we are eating or he will refuse to finish his meal because he thinks he should have a cookie.

I may think of more later but I wanted to get a few of these down before I forgot.

Sunday Evening at the Park

After Reed's nap on Sunday, we decided to grab some Subway and take it to a local park. Knoxville has some fantastic parks and this one is right on the lake.



We ate our sandwiches and then walked over to the playground.



Reed and Millie both enjoyed swinging but we all had more fun playing hide and seek by the water.

A Little Baseball

Millie is having a blast playing baseball this fall. Until I get a better zoom lens for my new camera, this is as good as it gets.



Reed is also enjoying her games as long as we have plenty of food and he can play with the ball.

My Kids Are Weird

Reed starting doing this the other night and of course when Rick found it hilarious, Millie had to do it and Reed kept it up.

Potty Update

I did not hit the every hour mark this weekend with the potty but Reed is doing very well still. He still needs work learning to pee on the potty but we pretty much have pooping mastered. We don't have to wait for 'the face' any longer. I have been sitting him on the potty after every meal or snack and before the bath and he will just poop. I ask him if he needs to go and he strains. If he needs to poop, it comes out, if not, he will sign that he is finished. Some times some pee comes out with the strain and that is a little bonus. He waves bye bye to the poop when I flush and that is the end of it.

Ugh...Potty Time

I guess I have no one to blame but myself but I really don't want to start potty training. I have been putting Reed on the potty since he was big enough to sit up, just getting him use to it, no big deal. He peed a couple of times then I started recognizing when he was ready to poop so I would sit him on the potty and he would go. Now it seems that he is waiting to go until I put him on the potty. This is what I was afraid of, I HATE this stage of potty training and I don't want to do it yet. If he would just tell me when he had to go, it would be easy but he's not there yet. But I guess if he is going to pee when I put him on the potty, he understands what is going on and I should take the next step. So starting this weekend, every hour we will be sitting on the potty so he can pee. Not a big deal when you are home but a huge pain if you are out running errands - I DESPISE PUBLIC RESTROOMS. It is bad enough when I have to use them but to take a kid is disgusting and impossible for them to keep from touching everything. Then trying to hold them up to the sink to wash hands is like trying to give a cat a bath. By the end, we are all contaminated with nasty bathroom germs and my back (which never really feels great) is killing me.

I guess I shouldn't complain, if this means we will be done with all this around 2 years old, then I just need to suck it up and get it over with. However, if this stage drags on when he can see 3 years old, I will sell him to the gypsies.

Millie's First Baseball Game

I didn't take the camera because it was my night for snacks so getting the cooler, Reed, the stroller and Millie w/ game gear all to the field by myself was all I could handle. I promise that next game, I will have pictures.

She did very well but did take a few hits to the groin and side. She learned the hard way that you have to watch the ball, not the runner. Very important when Coach puts her on first base. After a few hits, which she took like a champ, she started to be prepared for her team to throw her the ball at first. She caught/stopped them all pretty well (when looking) and did a great job of throwing it home to her coach to put back on the T.

Her batting was good but she still is not use to hitting off a T. They don't keep score in this league or get 'outs' but Millie told me they won. When I asked her why she said "because no one got me out and I got 2 scores". Sounded good to me!

Go Royals!

Millie's first game of the season is tonight! We are all very excited and I will have more photos than this. These photos were from her practice last week. She is the only girl on the team but she was by far one of the best. I am not bragging, it is just a fact. We have been playing baseball every evening for the past 4 months so she should know a thing or two about the game. I was surprised at her practice how many of the kids did not know how to run the bases, how to throw a ball and some didn't even have a glove. Gee, how do you expect you child to want to play when they don't know HOW?? It was a little disappointing but it should provide some quality entertainment to say the least.
