Our Little Harry Potter

Millie LOVES Harry Potter right now. These books are 700+ pages and she loves them. She's getting ready to start book 5 in the series next week. I'm truly amazed at her reading comprehension at age 7. She is allowed to watch the movie of each book after she finishes the book. We discuss the differences between the book and the movie and she notices lots or more little details that even I do.

She is so in love that she's learning "Hedwig's Theme" on the piano. It's the intro piece to most of the movies and is played throughout.

Tomorrow is "dress like your favorite book character" day at her school. There was no doubt about who she would be!

Tomorrow morning I will attempt to draw a lightening bolt scar on her forehead. Not sure how that will turn out but I will do my best.

It's Rough

Sometimes being a boy is just too hard. With no nap today, he fell asleep on me during our read-aloud time. Poor thing missed the end of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

Blood Sausage

I'm just seeing these photos for the first time. Reed enjoyed butchering with Rick and his family in January. Rick said Reed wasn't too sure about mixing the blood sausage but the boy sure does love to eat it!

Basketball Champ Number 2

Reed's not the only basketball champ in the house.  Millie was absolutely amazing on the court.  Rebounding, speed, dribbling, shooting, defending, free throw shooting and ball handling; I'd say she was top in all of that.  And that all paved the way to their championship victory. I'm sure it helped, too, having the largest cheering section!  She (and we) really appreciated all of you who came and watched throughout the season.

Basketball Champ Number 1

Ask Reed and he'll tell you that his basketball team was undefeated.

Which is technically true because his league didn't keep score.

So he figures since he was never beat, he never lost and therefore was undefeated.

It's hard to argue with that logic. Way to go champ!

Ft. Myer and the Keys

My mom and I had a get-away to Florida for a week in January. We saw a lot from Ft. Myer all the way down to Key West. We hiked through the Everglades and enjoyed the roosters all over the Keys.

My overall thoughts on Key West are this: I loved the architecture and the roosters. It was a perfect size to rent a bike and ride the entire island in half a day (which we did). But those of you who know me well know I like nice quiet and peaceful surroundings so I could easily do without all the 30 year old drunks who thought they were in New Orleans on spring break as well as all the dirty hippies. So if you removed all the dirty hippies and drunks, I'd love it. But as it stands, 2 days there was plenty for me.
