Highland Hills Basketball
Millie really enjoyed her first year playing basketball for Highland Hills. They had a full team of 15 girls and Rick was an assistant coach. They went undefeated all season with none of the games even being close. Millie actually outscored all the other teams 115-78 and she never played more than 2 quarters, some games even less that that. Basketball is still her favorite sport and now that middle school ball is over, her travel team is starting. They have a pretty full schedule until about March when softball will kick into high gear. It's never boring around here!

Viola and Orchestra
Millie is in 2 different orchestra's...her school 5th grade orchestra and she also plays in the Floyd County Youth Symphony. She has only played for a few months but she has improved tremendously. Her teacher has asked her to perform in the ISSMA Solo and Ensemble competition this year. I don't really know much about it but I guess I will find out something soon.
Both groups had their winter concerts last week and we really enjoyed both of them. Here are some photos of her 5th grade performance...
Then a few days later we enjoyed the Floyd County Youth Symphony concert...

Basketball and More Basketball
Still mostly just all basketball right now. Reed is still in Mini-league and Millie is about halfway through her middle school season. Both Millie and Reed's teams are undefeated.
Millie has actually scored more points individually than her opponents all have combined and she usually only plays about half the game because they are always ahead by so much. Her travel team has been practicing as well so I am looking forward to them playing some tourneys to see some more competition.

Talent Show
Millie and a couple of her friends put together an act for their school talent show. Heck if they didn't end up winning first place. I was very proud of them and Millie sure rocked the piano playing Rolling in the Deep.
Churchill Downs
Rick's company had their 35th anniversary and celebrated at Churchill Downs. The kids had a great time and won some money too. It helps that some of their best school friends were there too because their parents work there too.

Halloween and All Saints
My mom made not 1 but 2 costumes for each of the kids this year. I seriously don't know what I would do without her. She organized the whole family in a weekend at Lake Rudolph to go to Holiday World and go trick-or-treating. She got everyone tied dyed tshirts to wear to Holiday World AND Super Hero costumes for trick-or-treating. Reed was Spider-Man and Millie was The Flash.
Mini League Basketball
It's full on basketball season (otherwise known as impossible to get good photos season) and the kids couldn't be happier. Millie has finished mini-league and Reed is just starting.
I was very proud of Millie's team. She should have been on a 4-5 grade league but some parents told me I needed to play her up on the 6-8 grade league. So we did and I was glad. They had 3 5th graders on their team (the only 5th graders in the league) and they came in third. Our 5th graders were our strongest players. If we had had more height, we could have hung with the older girls even more.

Fall Break Mystery Trip - Chattanooga, TN
My mom had another mystery trip planned for the kiddos over fall break. She knows they are all getting older and there are things she really wants to experience with them before they are "too old" for fun things like this.
This year it was Chattanooga, TN. The weather was beautiful and the hotel she booked was at the historic Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel where they slept in an actual train car.
She had lots of adventures planned such as the sleeping in a train car...
Tennessee Railway Museum
The Moon Pie General Store
Rock City
Ruby Falls
Incline Railway
WWII Duck Boat
Crossing the TN River
Thanks again, mom, for another great trip they will never forget!
