Bees Baseball

Reed had his first game of the season last night. So glad the weather was nice and we weren't freezing like at practices!

Highland Hills Tennis

It's been a long time coming but Millie is finally on a tennis team. The team is 5-8 grade, no divisions between grades. She was the only 5th grader to make the team that competes in matches. Very proud of her! They have had 2 matches so far and she had played doubles both times. She has won all of her sets 6-0 easily. Very excited to see her compete finally!

Chickens Chickens

The kids have been talking about and planning for chickens since last year. Reed was much more excited about it than Millie at first and he was researching and reading books about taking care of them. When the time got closer to getting them, Millie was excited too! We had several failed attempts of actually getting them, twice the store told us they had them but then they didn't when we got there. Then we went to Florida and wanted to wait until we returned. Then Rick wrecked his motorcycle (no fault of his) and ended up with punctured lungs and 12 broken ribs. So finally, even though the ribs are still very much broken, we got the chickens. It only took them a few minutes before they were scratching around in the fresh chips and eating and drinking. We ended up with 6. 3 look very healthy, 2 are kind of lazy and one hasn't moved from under the heat lamp and won't stop chirping. We are a little concerned about that one but the kids knew going in that chickens come and go and that they need to understand that.

ISSMA Gold

Millie competed as part of a trio in the ISMMA Solo and Ensemble competition a few weeks back.  Her group earned gold which was the highest honor.  Very proud of her and her musical abilities.

SuperChicks

I had some fun with the girls before Christmas and we did a little photo shoot. I think everyone was pretty happy with them and the girls really enjoyed it.

West Washington School Team Challenge Campions

Millie's travel ball team, The SuperChicks, played hard this weekend and won the School Team Challenge Tournament. They lost their first pool play game on Saturday against Mitchell but won the second against North Harrison. Rick and I missed that one because we left to watch Reed play his SMK game. They earned the number 2 seed and played 3 games on Sunday, beating Mitchell in the Championship game by 1 point. It was such a close game all 4 quarters! They fought the entire time and never gave up even when they were down by 6 at one point.

SMK Basketball

This is my FAVORITE league the kids plays in. I just love it for so many reasons. Reed has had 2 games now and he has really done well. His first game last week he had about 8 points and this week he had 9. He is really hustling and paying attention to not only the ball but where everyone is around him. I love watching him this year because something has 'clicked' and he is starting to get it.

SuperChicks Basketball

Millie has started a new travel basketball team. She is in 5th grade but playing on a 6th grade team. All of the girls but 1 go to her middle school. She knew most of them already from playing softball because many of them also play for Fusion Softball. Here are some shots from their first tourney at Silver Creek.

Here are some from their second tourney hosted by Corydon but all of our games were played at Floyd Central, that was convenient. They played great and finished second place. We were very proud of them.
